Property
Description:
Easy access to this
property
through a very short (50') right-of-way with two other property owners,
or make a new entrance to Rt. 53 anywhere along its half-mile of road
frontage.
You can drive everywhere on this property as it is largely a big field
with a gentle to moderate slope. The long side of the property (2200
feet)
lies along the Aurora / Terra Alta Pike (Rt. 53... very little
traffic),
with a flawless southeast exposure. The adjacent property across the
road
is wooded and continues downhill at a steeper slope. Properties to the
west (left) and north (top) are both STEEP grassy fields, used for
grazing
or hay. Beautiful spot for a spectacular home or divide this property
into
several parcels. Plenty of opportunity for horses here, too! There are
a few small patches of trees, but mostly this is grassy open fields,
recently
mowed. The north and west sides are fenced by the adjacent owners. The
west side has a power line running almost parallel with the west fence.
That power line will interfere with the otherwise flawless view from
that
side, but, hey.... keep the horses there! The views are great in ALL
directions.
This property is attractively priced to consider all aspects.
EVERYTHING IN THIS
PHOTO IS PART OF THIS PROPERTY!
Directions:
From Rt. 50, in "downtown"
Aurora, WV, go 6.5 miles north on Rt. 53 (Aurora - Terra Alta Pike) to
the property, on the left. Turn in between three trailers at the two
mailboxes.
Drive around the backside of two trailers and you are on the property.
Continue north, staying to the right of the fence and you can't get
lost
because the property is bordered by fence on two sides and the road on
the third side.
From Terra Alta, go 4
miles
south on Rt. 53 to the property and turn right at the two mailboxes
between
the trailers. The new owners might want to make a new entrance to the
property
from Rt. 53 to avoid the trailers, but for now, this entrance is mighty
convenient. Feel free to visit the property.

Kingwood is the county seat of Preston County. The town was established
in 1811, and was incorporated in 1853. It didn't really develop until
about
the turn of the century when most of the settlers came and built homes.
Kingwood is the commercial center for a large mining area, and for
agriculture
and lumbering. It is a tourist center in summer because of its cool
climate.
The town gets its name because of the stately trees in the surrounding
area, known as "forest kings," or "king wood." Some of them once stood
in the center of the town. Contributing to the economy are dairy and
poultry
farms, coal, lumber, and limestone quarries. Named in honor of James
Patton
Preston who served as Governor of Virginia from 1816 to 1819, Preston
County
was founded in 1818. The county consists of some 654 square miles of
area.
Parts of both Coopers Rock State Forest and Monongahela National Forest
are located in the county.

Population (year 2000): 1,456
While in the area, be sure to see CATHEDRAL STATE PARK in Aurora (on Rt. 50), where you will see the only stand of mixed virgin timber in the state of WV and the largest Hemlock tree in the state.
