OWNERS: "From the first moment we set foot on the Preserve property, we knew that it was an extraordinary place-an island of forested beauty with spectacular mountain views. We immediately wanted a home there where we could share our love of the outdoors with family and friends. Our cabin took shape as we pored through design magazines to find the elements of our ideal woodland home, with a large stone fireplace in the center and windows and deck capturing the mountain views."
"Our cabin home became a place of special memories and experiences with family and friends over fifteen years. Some of the times that we will always remember include: happy holiday season gatherings with extended family, pleasant hours talking, laughing, and playing favorite games gathered around the warm stone fireplace, sitting on the deck on balmy summer nights watching a meteor shower with the Milky Way as a stunning backdrop, long walks through the forests, meadows, and streams within the Preserve, the joys and surprises offered up in every season-brilliant fall foliage, deep blankets of snow and fast sled runs, the pale pink blooms of thousands of Mountain Laurel bushes, rushing streams and waterfalls, hours spent with our children reading, painting, making things, playing cards, dancing, tumbling, baking, exploring, roasting marshmallows, picking blueberries, (all without a TV screen in sight), watching many varieties of birds, including hummingbirds and gold-finches, at the outside feeders, fishing in New Creek Lake and nearby streams, swimming and relaxing at Mt. Storm lake and other streams and pools, taking day-trips to many beautiful sites such as Dolly Sods, Seneca Rocks, Blackwater Falls, and Otter Creek, the excitement of our dogs at the first whiff of pure Preserve air, skiing at Canaan Valley, seeing wildlife such as deer, bobcat, and bear, watching movies and playing pool and ping-pong in the downstairs entertainment room, and enjoying pleasant dinners by candlelight on the screened porch."

NEW CREEK LAKE
IN THE FALL... RAINBOW TROUT FROM THE LAKE
NOTES ABOUT USE OF THE LAKE: New Creek Lake is owned by
the City of Keyser and is the source of their water, although, not
actually
a reservoir. They take their water from New Creek itself, as the creek
enters the city. They allow recreational use of the lake as a fishing
lake,
but do NOT permit boating, swimming or camping. The Division of Natural
Resources stocks
the lake with trout. BIG trout.
The
Preserve at New Creek Lake
is a 1000 acre nature preserve community with 43 private home sites
laid
out on about 500 acres, each adjoining the commonly owned Conservancy
Area
(nature preserve), consisting of the remaining 500 acres. The Preserve
is a gated community adjacent to publicly owned New
Creek Lake. There are many miles of marked hiking trails throughout
the property. Within the Conservancy Area, there are old forgotten
ruins
of early homesteads, at least one old cemetery (and another next to the
lake), miles of sparkling clean streams with numerous waterfalls,
soaring
sandstone cliffs and more wildlife than you've ever seen in one place.
There are also numerous picnic tables
left in convenient locations so that you can sit and relax along your
explorations.
Expect to see black bears, multiple flocks of as many as 35 wild
turkeys
foraging in the woods, flying squirrels, white-tailed deer, grouse,
foxes
and even an occasional coyote can be spotted. You may be lucky enough
to
hear the coyotes howling together higher on the mountain. There is NO
HUNTING permitted at The Preserve at any time. This is
meticulously
enforced at all times by relentless residents. You will not find anyplace
that matches The Preserve in it's natural qualities and the values
placed
on those qualities. When you buy property within The Preserve, you
become
part of something much bigger... a community dedicated to the
conservation,
enjoyment, respect and care of the land and it's wildlife. Make certain
that when you plan to visit The Preserve, that you allow time for the
visit
to include not just the property you look to purchase, but also the
entire
Preserve, for which each lot owner becomes a steward. Please note, this
property is NOT waterfront or water view. The entrance to The Preserve
travels most of the way around adjacent New Creek Lake, but the lake
belongs
to the nearby City of Keyser as a reservoir. The lake is stocked
regularly
and fishing is permitted, but boating and swimming are not.

Note: A new east-west highway has been approved to run several miles south of The Preserve, crossing Rt. 93 near Greenland Gap and Scherr. Long in planning, this 4-lane highway is planned to connect the central part of WV with the Northern VA area. 20 miles have been completed from Wardensville, WV, to Moorefield, WV and the next 14 miles, from Moorefield to Forman is currently under construction. The next 28 miles, from Forman to Mount Storm Lake, is scheduled to begin construction in spring of 2007. When complete, this road should reduce travel time by 30 minutes.
